The three main types of DC power supplies include -
1. Un-filtered
An un-filtered DC power supply is basically a rectified AC power source. It will contain no smoothing capacitors, therefore will have a high ripple voltage.
Single phase / three phase
Voltage output 5 VDC, 12VDC, 24VDC, 48VDC
Power output 50 W - 1000 W+
Multiple outputs
2. Filtered
A filtered DC power supply will provide a smooth DC output able to withstand high surge and inrush currents. This is an un-regulated power supply so the no load voltage will be slightly higher than the specified full load voltage.

3. Linear regulated
A filtered DC power supply with the addition of voltage regulation, so the output will remain a constant voltage from no load to full load.
